Job Title: Production Leader
Reports to: Business Owner
Pay Range: 50-60k
Kern’s Kitchen is a small, family owned and operated food manufacturing facility known best for producing Derby-Pie® chocolate nut pie. We carry a 60+ year tradition and pride ourselves on our standards: quality, efficiency and cleanliness. Located near Jeffersontown in Louisville, Kentucky, we conduct all operations within a 10,000 square foot temperature-controlled facility producing in excess of 100,000 pies annually. We are veteran friendly. This very special position will be privy to the secret recipe and charged with maintaining that secrecy and quality.
We are seeking an individual who will lead our production team. This is a working leader position that will be responsible for all operations within our facility while fostering a positive work atmosphere among team members.
As the Production Leader, you will play a crucial role in leading our baking operations. You'll be responsible for executing and overseeing the entire baking process, ensuring the timely production of high-quality products, and maintaining a hygienic and efficient environment. Collaboration with various team members, quality control, and inventory management, is essential to achieving optimal production outcomes and upholding our reputation for quality products.
Develop and execute production plans for Kern’s Kitchen
Gain in-depth knowledge of all facets of the business, including Food Safety, HACCP, retail, wholesale, and shipping operations
Supervise and schedule staff, provide training, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations
Monitor and maintain equipment, ensuring proper functioning and coordinating repairs or maintenance as needed
Oversee the baking process, ensuring adherence to recipes, quality standards, GMP’s and consistent product presentation
Manage inventory, ensuring timely availability of ingredients and supplies while monitoring costs and maintaining budgets
Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
Optimize production processes to increase efficiency, minimize waste, and improve overall productivity
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, maintaining a clean and organized bakery environment
Promote team development as needed
Work closely with teams to maintain product quality standards and address any product-related issues promptly
Coordinate between teams for maximum production capabilities
Provide regular updates to senior management on products and performance
Foster a positive culture within the bakery teams and optimize team-building skills
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, Food Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
Proven experience as a Production Leader/Manager or in a similar leadership role within a food service environment
Thorough understanding of production processes, techniques, and quality control practices
Excellent leadership and communication abilities, capable of motivating and guiding staff
