This past Christmas, I was given a (very) small sliver of your Derby pie...very small...very very very small.
Actually it was a sliver from a piece that was given to a co-worker, and she shared. After tasting my sliver - I am most appreciative of her sharing with me.
I am a baker, and come from a long line of great southern cooks, however - this was the best (store bought ) pie I have ever eaten. THE best. SO GOOD in fact that I called my 90 year old mother and told her about it. Her remark was. I wonder why we never found out about them before now?? Well - I just don't have an answer to that question. But I can tell you most assuredly, that I will find a place to buy these pies locally or hopefully nearby and if I cannot I will order them most faithfully from Kern's Kitchen."
